Matt Barkley

I've spent more than 31 years as a State Farm agent here in Hickory, NC, and insurance has truly been a family business for me. Before opening my own office, I worked alongside my father, who served as a State Farm agent for 40 years. Those years shaped how I approach helping people prepare for what matters most, whether that's Auto insurance for everyday driving, home insurance to protect where you live, business insurance for local owners, or Life Insurance and healthcare supplements to support long-term security.

I'm licensed with State Farm for Property and Casualty Insurance, Life Insurance, and healthcare supplements, and over the years I've been honored as a Decade of the 90's Qualifier, Legion of Honor Qualifier, and President's Club Bronze Tablet and Life Travel Qualifier. I am a graduate of the Hickory School system and The Citadel, Class of '88, and staying involved locally has always been important to me. I have served on the Bethlehem Elementary Principal's Committee, as Past President of the Boys & Girls Club of America, and as Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Hickory. My wife and I are also active members of Soma Church.

Outside of the office, I stay connected to the community through Barkley Baseball School, which I own and instruct and is now in its 38th year. Coaching and teaching young athletes has reinforced the same values I bring to my work as an agent: Consistency, preparation, and looking out for people over the long haul.
