I have thirty years' experience as an Agent with State Farm. Previously, I worked for my father as a staff member, who was an Agent for 40 years with State Farm. I am Licensed with State Farm for: Healthcare Supplements; Property and Casualty Insurance (Auto, home and business) and Life Insurance. I was a Decade of the 90's Qualifier; Legion of Honor Qualifier; President's Club Bronze Tablet/Life Travel Qualifier. My education began with the Hickory School system, and I graduated from The Citadel, Class of '88. I previously have served on the Bethlehem Elementary Principal's Advisory Committee, as Past President of Boys & Girls Club of America, and Past President Kiwanis Club of Hickory. My wife and I are current members of Soma Church. During the Spring and Summer, I conduct Barkley Baseball School, as the Owner/Instructor which, is currently in its 36th year.

Currently our team consists of State Farm Agent Matt Barkley, Office Representative Terri Sain Hammons, Life/Health Products Representative Joseph M. Nelson and Shelly Dawn Hill. Matt and Terri are lifelong residents of Hickory, both attending the Hickory School System. Matt has thirty-six years experience with State Farm Insurance. He was a staff member of the agency under his father, State Farm Agent W.S. (Bill) Barkley, prior to becoming a State Farm Agent. Terri began her State Farm career while W.S. (Bill) Barkley was the agent for State Farm. She has been with the agency for forty-seven years. Joseph, whom we call Jody, has been with Agent Matt Barkley for twenty-one years. Jody is a lifelong resident of Caldwell County. Our newest team member is Shelly (Dawn) Hill. Dawn has been with my agency since April of 2024. We gladly welcome Dawn as she begins her career with my agency and State Farm.
